TUDUNG LILIT

I guess we are still in Hari Raya Mood. Sangat!!
Like me, i come to office bringing along Celcom 3G lagi.
Punyala nak view gambar-gambar raya kat Facebook. (Kuang Kuang Kuang)
Everybody's looking totally beautiful with pakaian Raya.
Colorful. Glamor. Meriah! :)

Few days ago, an auntie came to me and asked,
"Nuurill, how you wear your 'tudung lilit'"?.
Hehehehehe... tudung lilit dipanggilnya??? bolehla :)
So, i showed her.

I still remember, my 1st time wearing a scarf, it was at early 2004. 5 years back huh :)
It's started when my boyfriend's mama (now my mil..hehe), delivered me 2 pcs of the luxurious Jim Thompson Scarf. A motherly gift from a great woman of my man.

Mt first impression when i received them, "Gulp! cemana nak pakai nih??" :p
but yeah.. practice makes perfect eit??
Day by day, i learned myself, xkesahla muka jadi bulat ke, senget sebelah ke, hehe..
me belasah je. I also started my own scarf collection. But masa tu i was not wearing scarf at all times. On the certain event je. Cause masih belum yakin dengan kekemasan pemakaian. hehe.

Those scarfs above among the first in my collection. They are JT's. TQ Mama :)

Until i started my 1st job in Flex. After 2 years of practicing :P It was 2006 when i loyally wearing scarf since then. Masa tu x ramai ladies yang pakai scarf, truth feeling, sometimes i felt like an alien. Sebab pegi mana-mana, surely ade mata yg akan tengok macam nak telan. Hik Hik. Agaknye dalam hati "fesyen tudung apalah dia ni pakai" :) atau pun "budak ni konon-konon nak jadi foreigner la tuh" :p.. nak tergelak, there were few tech boys at my workplace, mesti nyanyi "wassini!! wassini!!" everytime i bumped into them. hahaha.. when i went back to my hometown or met my relatives, akan ada makcik-makcik yang tegur and nak belajar how i lilit my tudung. Hehe.

Now, things have changed. Recently i went to Midvalley, wow!!! dah ramai ladies and girls wearing scarfs. Cantik cantik design. Pandang kiri, pandang kanan mesti ada. Kadang-kadang i pulak yang pandang diorang x kelip mata. Sebab ada yang sgt kreatif lilitannya. At my present workplace pun, ramai. Checked albums uploaded at fb pun, ramai dah pakai scarfs. Merrier!! :)

Vid was taken on 22 October 2008

Last year when i was 5 months pregnant, I received a huge request from 2 of my friends to youtube how i wear my tudung lilit. They wanted to learn from it. hehe. Segan bangat!! Xsanggup nak buat. But not to let them down, i recorded above for them. Hehe. Now would like to share this with scarfs' fans. One of the way to wear tudung lilit :p.. actually out there, there are many more ways.... you just be creative :)

DEDICATED TO ALL MOTHERS.....

Just a MOM???
***************

A woman, renewing her driver's license at the County Clerk's office,
was asked by the woman recorder to state her occupation.

She hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself.

"What I mean is, " explained the recorder, "do you have a job or are you just a ...?"

"Of course I have a job," snapped the woman.

"I'm a Mom."

"We don't list 'Mom' as an occupation, 'housewife' covers it," Said the recorder emphatically.

I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself in the same situation,
this time at our own Town Hall.
The Clerk was obviously a career woman, poised, efficient, and possessed of a high sounding title like, "Official Interrogator" or "Town Registrar."

"What is your occupation?" she probed..

What made me say it? I do not know.
The words simply popped out..
"I'm a Research Associate in the field of Child Development and Human Relations."

The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in mid air and looked up as though she had not heard right.

I repeated the title slowly emphasizing the most significant words.
Then I stared with wonder as my pronouncement was written, in bold, black ink on the official questionnaire.

"Might I ask," said the clerk with new interest, "just what you do in your field?"

Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice, I heard myself reply,

"I have a continuing program of research, (what mother doesn't?) In the laboratory and in the field, (normally I would have said indoors and out). I'm working for my Masters, (first the Lord and then the whole family) and already have four credits (all daughters). Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the human ties, (any mother care to disagree?) and I often work 14 hours a day, (24 is more like it). But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers and the rewards are more of a satisfaction rather than just money."

There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice as she completed the form, stood up, and personally ushered me to the door.

As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career,
I was greeted by my lab assistants -- ages 13, 7, and 3.
Upstairs I could hear our new experimental model, (a 6 month old baby) in the child development program, testing out a new vocal pattern.
I felt I had scored a beat on bureaucracy!
And I had gone on the official records as someone more distinguished and indispensable to mankind than "just another Mom."

Motherhood!

What a glorious career!
Especially when there's a title on the door.

Does this make grandmothers
"Senior Research associates in the field of Child Development and Human Relations"
And great grandmothers
"Executive Senior Research Associates?"

I think so!!!

I also think it makes Aunts
"Associate Research Assistants.. "

May your troubles be less,
Your blessing be more,

:)
